Maillardville Coquitlam is a neighbourhood bordering Lougheed Highway which then leads in to New Westminster. It is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Coquitlam, and is a mix of both residential and commercial areas.

ABOUT

Maillardville is an area on the southwest side of Coquitlam, with easy access to the highway, busses, and entertainment. It is one of Coquitlam’s oldest neighbourhoods, and consists of townhomes, detached homes, condo’s, and commercial zones with build dates from old to new. It is closeby to entertainment (movie theatre), playgrounds & parks, as well as a variety of restaurants, so you’ll never be short of something to do!

The central area of the neighbourhood is Mackin Park and the Place Des Arts (school of art) which teaches a variety of after-school activities such as dance, piano, and various arts and crafts for the young and the old. Having had a long time to develop, the neighbourhood has a good transit score and there a number of busses running throughout the day to service the community.

TRANSIT

There are a number of busses that run through Maillardville that will take you directly to skytrain stations, schools, Lougheed Station, and/or Coquitlam Station. Busses run both north/south as well as west/east, making this one of the more accessible areas by bus in Coquitlam. Because it is one of the furthest cities west, it is also a shorter transit time to working cities such as Vancouver. The nearest skytrain station is Braid Station, which will take you through to Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Moody, and various locations throughout Metro Vancouver.

THINGS TO DO

Maillardville is home to a number of commercial areas, as well as Coquitlam’s main movie theatre – Coquitlam VIP Cinemas – and bowling alley. There are a number of restaurants, bars, and delis to choose from, as well as a Superstore for when you’d prefer to eat at home.  Schoolhouse Street and Brunette Avenue are the main streets for anything and everything to do in Maillardville, and Austin Avenue at the Northern border of Maillardville also offers a variety of places to explore. There are playgrounds & parks nearby, most notably Mackin Park, as well as Place des Arts which is an extra-curricular school for dance, art, and music. Mackin Park features a large playground, baseball field, soccer & football fields, a skateboard park, and tennis courts.
