Hello – I’m Mariko and I am realtor and partner at Bridgewell Real Estate Group, based out of Oakwyn Realty. Meeting new people every day and hearing their stories, their dreams, and being able to re-locate them to their perfect home or sell their home in most innovative way is what I live for. I find it extremely exciting that I am given the opportunity and responsibility to help so many different people reach milestones in their life through real estate. I understand that real estate is one of the largest financial decisions someone has to make, and I really enjoy providing my clients with the feeling that I am serious about them and their goals and that, to me, they’re not just a number. 

My #1 goals are to listen, communicate, educate, and then move you one step closer (or hopefully many steps!) to your financial goals, and ultimately, freedom. 

I am extremely passionate about educating buyers and sellers (and sometimes other realtors!) about the real estate process via the online and offline world, and write, film and create all of the content for the Bridgewell Blog and Youtube channel!

My clients appreciate that I’m able to be forward, informative, and upfront, while still being able to keep the fun in real estate alive. 

I tend to work with a lot of people that value analytics, systems, and data, that also appreciate honesty, hard-work, and some one that’s genuine. I am very logical, but identify as an empath and I think that is really important in real estate – especially since I fundamentally believe it’s not all just numbers. 

I’m very passionate about educating the public about real estate via the blog and vlog, and a lot of clients work with us because they value our knowledge and expertise as well as our willingness to take the time to make sure our clients are confident and making an educated decision.

My knowledge and expertise is deeply rooted in my university education in Economics, former conveyancing experience dealing with real estate contracts, and previous jobs in sales and management. Furthermore, as one of the top realtors in the Greater Vancouver area I have the experience of hundreds of homes sold which has helped myself and my team create systems to avoid red flags and make our client’s experience as positive and seamless as possible. 

My Favourite Neighbourhoods

I’ve lived in the Tri-Cities my whole life, which is made up of Coquitlam, Port Moody and Port Coquitlam (fun fact: I’ve lived in every one of the cities!). I’ve lived in Port Moody since 2007 and absolutely love it!

Most of our business is from referral or online, which doesn’t seem to have any borders on where our clients look! In addition to the Tri-Cities, I also work a lot in Burnaby, Pitt Meadows/Maple Ridge, Surrey/Langley, New Westminster & Vancouver.  Brentwood/North Burnaby, Willoughby & Walnut Grove in Langley, North Surrey, Pitt Meadows, Kitsilano & Olympic Village have become fast favourites of mine. 

I love the potential and growth of each city, and their development over the years. I am fascinated by change, the market, and its analysis – and on top of that I am passionate about educating my clients. 

My Home & Where I Live

Right now I’m living in Port Moody right around the Burrard Inlet. It’s a borderline waterfront property, and I can walk 15 minutes right in to the downtown core of Port Moody, or walk 20 minutes in to Rocky Point Park. It’s the perfect balance of both quiet and tucked away in the trees, and the hustle and bustle of downtown Port Moody.

We have one of the few ranchers probably left in the city, and I enjoy doing my own projects on the house and yard.

What I’m Like Outside of Work!

I love staying active, and am always doing a mix of things from boxing, to strength training, running the Port Moody trails, hiking, going to yoga and more. I’ve ran a half marathon before and a number of 10k’s, but want to get more into it. 

At the same time, I also am a huge fan of being a couch potato and would be so happy to just cuddle up on the couch with my dog Bailey [team daschund!] and watch movies all day.  I absolutely love my family and am really close with them, and love going up to Vernon to visit my out-of-town family members when I can. 

I’m also an avid traveller. Most recently, I’ve been to Japan (I’m half Japanese!), Mexico, Paris, Portugal, Peru, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, New York, and a US National Parks tour. My recent travelling accomplishments are scuba diving in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, concurring Machu Picchu in Peru, and backpacking from South to North of Vietnam! 

Food and coffee experiences are a personal favourite thing to do when travelling or in the city, and I often explain directions based on restaurant locations.
